November Newsletter

Reading
·         Reading groups are well under way – we are meeting with small groups of children daily to work on decoding and comprehension skills.   We are also working on beginning and ending sounds, and reading rhyming words.  Please continue to read, read, read with your child. The more they read, they more they know!
Writing
We are making great strides with our writing. Pictures are more detailed, and letters are becoming words and sentences.  We will be using our sight words in our sentences and spelling them correctly.
Math
·      Our next unit is all about numbers.  We are counting and writing our numbers 0 - 31.  We are making groups of objects and comparing amounts.  We are comparing numbers and their relationship to each other.   The end of year goal is to count to 100 by 1s and 10s.  Practice at home.  Counting is fun!
Science/Social Studies
·      We will be learning about seeds and animal and plants.  We will be learning about the globe and maps. In Health, we are learning about germs and healthy and safe habits.
ESOL
·   In Beginning ESOL for November, we will be learning about clothing and weather, houses and homes, and the holiday of Thanksgiving.  We will continue to assist and support with Curriculum 2.0 as we co-teach in the classrooms as well.
